Microsoft's Bill Gates is scheduled to visit VN in April 21-22 during which
time to deliver a speech to some 900 students of Dai Hoc Bach Khoa Ha Noi.
92% of software in VN are illegally copied/pirated. Microsoft's lost revenues
in VN black market is estimated at 55 million USD. VN's software development
earns 70 million USD a year in export as compared to India's 12 billion USD.
I'm proposing following plan to advise the most savvy businessman.
1. Take Mr. Gates for a tour of cho+. tro+`i where his latest versioned
Windows is readily available for about 99 U.S. cents.
2. Inform him that the Viet young technocrats are smart & do not have much to
do, so they have no choice but turning into breaking his Windows copy code to
kill their time & make some pocket moneys.
3. Advise Bill to:
3.1 Buy up (to destroy - thereby eliminating the supply of pirated products)
all illegal Windows copies in VN.
3.2 Hire qualified Viet code breakers to work (outsourced) in VN on improving
Windows security features.
3.2.1 Employment applicants are code breakers who must have produced any of
illegal Windows CDs. To become a Microsoft employee, a code breaker needs not
to have a degree, but must be smart enough to break a CD that has the most
secured & lastest version of Windows in an isolated room with just an Internet
wireless laptop, and make a copy of the new Windows on a blank CD, in say 5
hours.
3.2.2 Pay average American salaries to these young Viet software smarties.
The beauty of the deal is that everybody would win:
a. Chợ trời retail sellers would come home well off with their whole
Microsoft inventory sold.
b. Microsoft can reap hefty profits by selling zillions of new & improved
uncopyable security Windows not only to a new/fresh/empty market (of 83
million user market) in VN , but also to (over 6 billion potential users in)
the rest of the world.
c. Viet software technocrats will be busy with their real legal/legitimate
jobs with much better pay & productive legit technical challenge.
d. Hanoi government benefits by collecting its lucrative fees when processing
paper work authorizing such a work arrangement between Microsoft and thousands
of its capable & energetic citizens.
And if Bill Gates appreciates my advice & wish to treat me, I would take him
to try rựa mận, chả ŕa, dồi chó, and cháo chó ở Chợ Đồng Xuân, and tell him
that this unique delicacy is what makes VN people's mind superior than the
rest of the world, turning many Viets into đỉnh cao trí tuệ !
And I'm going to program (aka. brainwash) Bill with following verses:
Going thru life, one ought to taste - at least once - a bite of sausage made
of dog meat, 'Cause after death, who knows if such delicacy would be available
in hell?
(Which is nothing more than a direct translation of our old Viet
saying:
"Sống ở đời, ăn miếng dồi chó
Chết xuống âm phủ, biết có hay không?")
