The “Nine Commentaries”

Cửu B́nh : Chín bài b́nh luận về đảng cộng sản

Tuan Lam <lamanhtuan2000@yahoo.com> wrote:

Hello.  My name is Tuan Lam.  I am an active member in the Vietnamese American community.  I would like to bring awareness to the community about the issue of "9 Commentaries".  I have been involving in project with newspaper Epoch Times, a multi-language newspaper.  The Epoch Times published an editorial series called the “Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party” which translated into other languages as well– 9 B́nh (Chín Bài B́nh Luận Về Đảng Cộng Sản). The “Nine Commentaries” gives an uncensored history of the Communist Party and reveals the true nature of it.  The editorial so far caused over 2.9 million people to withdraw from the Communist Youth League, Chinese Communist party, and other communist-led organizations.  Never before has something revealed the true history and nature of the Communist Party, as the Nine Commentaries has.  I believe this grand wave of resignation from Communism is a phenomenon that only happens once in many centuries.

The “Nine Commentaries” received exceptional attention from the Chinese people.  On The Chinese Epoch Times’ website, each commentary attracts more than 100,000 visits daily. People who hear about it want to read it themselves.

In Hong Kong, when 30,000 copies of the “Nine Commentaries” were first put on the newsstand in December, they were gone within two hours; a second round of 30,000 copies were all taken by the following day. Overall, 700,000 copies of the special edition were distributed in two weeks in Hong Kong.

Through May 2005, about 250 public forums on the “Nine Commentaries” have been held in more than 50 cities in 20 countries and were attended by thousands of people.

After reading the “Nine Commentaries”, many members of the communist party inside and outside China started to renounce their membership one after another. Starting on December 3, 2004, a website was published to collect the statements of people who want to renounce their membership in Communist Youth League, Chinese Communist party, and other communist-led organizations. As of July 7, 2005, over 2.8 million people have registered their renunciations on that special website. Currently, there are 20,000 people per day on the average submitting resignation statements.  More recently a website in English has been setup for these renunciations: http://declaration.epochtimes.com/.  Never before has a book/editorial revealed the true history and nature of the Communist Party, as the Nine Commentaries has.

Many renowned scholars, government officials, and Chinese community leaders have spoken out in the publicly held forums on the Nine Commentaries. The new thinking brought about by the “Nine Commentaries” and the excitement of witnessing the CCP’s disintegration is reflected in their speeches and articles.

Chinese Former diplomat Chen Yonglin explains how his love for China inspired him to denounce the Chinese Communist Party.  He quits the CCP because he is no longer willing to work for the persecution of dissident Chinese groups, which is against his conscience. He revealed the reason for his escaping the CCP during the June 4th Memorial Rally held in Sydney. He further exposed details of the CCP spies network overseas.  His revelations have caused a major shockwave, rippling through Australia and the rest of the world.  The momentum also escalates when “610” officer Hao Fengjun support Chen’s claims and provide other type of evidences.

I found the “Nine Commentaries” is an accurate description of all the evils of the communist regime. Even though it describes mostly the Chinese Communist Party, I find many similarities between different communists parties through the world.  Those who have some leftist views may sometimes even feel sympathetic to some communist slogans because they don’t know all the negative things that come with them.  A known activist Dr. Tran Xuan Ninh has once stated, “don’t be afraid of minority but be in the minority who has the conscience for Vietnam”.  In my opinion, we can be the minority regarding this issue but the minority who has the freedom to speak for millions who cannot speak.  Most of the time civilians and other individuals are afraid to even think about how they would articulate their grieving in the communist society.

Charity projects are very meaningful.  Furthermore, we should understand the fundamental cause of religious oppression, corruption, severe poverty and factors related to children sex trafficking.   Is it our full responsibility to help and change these things in Vietnam or is it the responsibility of those who govern Vietnam to make it a better country?  Do they deserve to govern Vietnam if they fail to fulfill those duties?  What we see in Vietnam is the lack of knowledge on some issues and mainly oppression from the communist regime.   By taking this non-violent approach, we provide an opportunity for people to gain more knowledge and make the decision base on their conscience.

I have a network connection with pro-democracy activists and students from Vietnam.  They are very optimistic with promoting freedom and independent for Vietnam through secondary means.  It is positive to spread this information (9 B́nh) about the true nature of the communist regime to other countries (China, Vietnam, etc) and promote it in our community through news, online, and media.

Kind regards,

Tuan Lam
